The whole purpose of this volunteer (no one is getting paid) community service effort is to Save The HOPE - this website explains how the community and its leaders have the power to Save The HOPE Scholarship.
What's the issue? The fact is fewer and fewer Georgians are receiving fewer and fewer HOPE Scholarship dollars because revenue from the lottery which funds The HOPE have flattened while tuitions increase each year and the various fees required are increasing at an even more alarming rate. Click to play the video below and learn more about Saving The HOPE:
And no one is doing anything to Save The HOPE Scholarship.
What do we want from you? Nothing more than to "sign" the electronic petition (and to urge your friends to do the same) on this web site so we can forward it to the Governor and the members of the Lottery Commission - letting them know that doing nothing is not an option. And, if you believe it is good business and good for business to support fully funding, and therefore saving, The HOPE Scholarship, please join our growing list of supporting community and business leaders by emailing savethehopega@gmail.com your name and the name of your business or organization.
Put away your checkbook; we don't want money - just, if you agree the HOPE is worth saving, please sign the petition, take advantage of the email links if you want your opinion to be heard , and then please persuade your friends to do the same.
Our goal is 5,000 people telling the powers under the gold dome that we want them to Save The HOPE.
Take action today. Sign the citizen petition, contact our representatives on the Georgia Lottery Commission who have the power to make this important decision, and keep The HOPE alive.

Members of the GA State Lottery
Because Governor Deal has expressed his feelings against the expansion of gambling in Georgia, the Chairman of the board of the Lottery Corporation feels that the board should not move forward with the project that could Save The HOPE. The Chairman has also admitted that support from the Governor and the legislature is not necessary for the board to approve of the project. It’s important to remind the Chairman and the rest of the board that The HOPE Scholarship is incredibly important, and needs full-funding, regardless of whether Governor Deal agrees.
Jimmy F. Braswell
Chairman of the Board Georgia Lottery Corporation
As Chair of the Board of the Georgia Lottery Corporation, Jimmy Braswell has the full authority to take the steps which would ultimately fully fund The HOPE Scholarship. Jimmy (who was appointed by Governor Deal) has said he doesn’t want to authorize the project that could Save The HOPE without the Governor’s support. As a result, no action has been taken, even though the Georgia Lottery Corporation has expressly said that it doesn’t need the support of the Governor or Georgia legislature to move forward with such a project. Contact him today to encourage him to take this leadership role.

Governor Deal has strong influence over the future full funding of The HOPE Scholarship. Though several of Governor Deal’s goals focus on strong schools (which he says are “the only proven route to tomorrow’s good jobs”), Deal has not taken a strong stance on behalf of the fight to Save The HOPE. Don't know what to write to Governor Deal? Here's our suggestion: "Governor Deal, I am among the many Georgians who support a fully funded Hope Scholarship. We can ill afford to lose our best and brightest either because they no longer can afford college, or are forced to go out of state. Doing nothing is not an option insofar as this voter is concerned."
Though Governor Deal emphasizes the necessity to prepare Georgia’s students to compete nationally and internationally, he doesn’t seem to understand the importance of a fully-funded HOPE Scholarship for achieving that goal. Contact Governor Deal now and let him know how important it is to Save The HOPE.
